What is Proculsexual?
Proculsexual is an identity on the asexual spectrum, referring to someone who experiences sexual attraction only toward people they are certain they can never be in a relationship with—such as fictional characters, celebrities, or individuals who wouldn’t reciprocate their feelings.
Fictosexuality is considered a subset of proculsexuality. While many asexual people may occasionally fantasize about celebrities or fictional characters, proculsexuals feel a sustained and strong attraction to these unattainable figures. This attraction typically diminishes or disappears when there’s a realistic chance of a relationship. The romantic equivalent of this identity is proculromantic.
Some individuals who identify as proculsexual may feel attraction to only one specific fictional character or celebrity. Those who experience this singular, focused attraction may identify as certissexual.
